Who do you think is the funniest person dead or alive?

You got to give it to Rodney Dangerfield. He is not alive, yet his website rodney.com still lives on. He is best known for the catchphrase "I don't get no respect" and his monologues on that theme.

He was one of the greatest comedians! Just watch his video, seeing is believing!

Eddie Izzard in his Dress to Kill special, perhaps one of the funniest stand-up specials I've ever seen. He kind of spent it all in one special, and hasn't reached the same height since then.

While I agree with many of the above answers, I've got to say Christopher Titus. youtube.com/watch?v=f_8SKoJKZWg.

Haha I totally agree! Ellen DeGeneres! She's so funny, and just says and does the most odd things haha.

:).

Eddie Izzard would be my pick... all of his work is hilarious! Thought Josh Blue is a close 2nd since he is a family friend.

Since you said alive or dead, I have to go very old school & say Mark Twain. "By temperament, which is the real law of God, many men are goats and can't help committing adultery when they get a chance; whereas there are numbers of men who, by temperament, can keep their purity and let an opportunity go by if the woman lacks in attractiveness. " Of the contemporary people, I'd say George Carlin: "Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?"

And my current man crush, Jon Stewart, "I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land.

Louis C.K. Is amazing. The schtick he did for Conan O'Brien is fantasic: he links to a YouTube video of on on his home site, louisck.net/.

Mitch Hedberg! I can't believe he hasn't been mentioned yet. Here are some of my favorite lines... I used to do drugs.

I still do drugs. But I used to, too. I like to hold the microphone cord like this, I pinch it together, then I let it go, then you hear a whole bunch of jokes at once.

I wanted to buy a candle holder, but the store didn't have one. So I got a cake. A severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

Fettucini alfredo is macaroni and cheese for adults I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor, I was back to pondering my mortality t the link for more awesomeness! brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/m/mitch_h....

My favorite has got to be Lewis Black. I love his standup specials on HBO and Comedy Central and he is always funny on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Either him or George Carlin Least favorite: Robin Williams.

It's got to be Conan O'Brien. He's so funny when he takes people from the audience to go down to Rockefeller Plaza. I'm so glad that he's taking over the Tonight Show soon.

I can't describe very well how funny he is, so I'll just let this video do the talking.

My dad. He cracks me up everyday, unintentionally. I bought him a bluetooth headset for Christmas.

He called me earlier today and this is how the conversation went: Dad: I think I lost my tooth. Me: ummm...what are you talking about? You lost your tooth?

Dad: you know...the tooth thing you got me for my cell phone. Do you know where it is? Me: Oh, your bluetooth?

Look in the office. Dad: ok bye. 5 minutes later, I receive a text from him that says: "Found my tooth!"

He also called me one day to ask how much it would cost to have eBay installed on his computer. Note: He does not do things like this to be funny, nor is he stupid. He is just really clueless about technology.Haha.

Bob Newhart - since it takes humor and brains to entertain with nothing but you on stage (or even in other media). Try listening to the Driving Instructor or The Cruise of the U.S.S. Codfish without almost falling on the floor in tears, laughing.

John Stewart is a funny guy. "The Daily Show" really cracks me up with political satire. The good thing about him is that he can switch from serious to hilarious.

Here's a clip of him about his thoughts on the automobile industry's bail out. jabjab.net/2008/12/john-stewart-gets-ser....

I like both Ellen Degeneres and Eddie Izzard. I recently discovered a really funny stand up commedian named Gabriel Iglesias. You may have seen him on Comedy Central.

Best of all, he doesn't use profanity in his routine. I so appreciate this - there's too much of that going around nowadays.

The podcaster George Hrab is one of the funniest people alive, IMHO. It helps that he and I have a similar knowledge base--he's a geek, likes Star Trek the Next Generation and is a foodie. But his comedy is very innovative, because he doesn't have to worry about censorship.

Yet his comedy's also very classic, like old school radio sketches, with a liberal dose of vulgarity. The other thing is that, since he's somewhat small time, he is very interactive with his listeners. So you feel more like a friend than a fan.

Pretty cool. geologicpodcast.com.

I think Merlin Mann is the most funny person I've ever encountered. Along with Scot Simpson and Adam Lisagor, he hosts You Look Nice Today, the funniest podcast on earth. Following Merlin on Twitter is a real treat.Be sure to check him out!

Nobody here will know who he is, but Tom Heinl is the funniest guy of all time.

Lewis Black. Attatched is an amazing example of his humor. Slightly NSFW, btw.

While I think he might be a little strange and old fashioned Micheal Richards has always been able to put a smile on my face. I know there is allot of controversy around him lately but he still makes me laugh.

I think most of the world admires Bin Laden for his stance against the US, even if (like me) they do not agree with sick terrorist methods which target innocent citizens. If he attacked purely US military targets, then I personally would find it very hard to argue with his politics at all. The USA IS the global tyrant, and the most galling fact is that those who ride roughshod over their own and international laws, and abuse human rights, should pretend that they act in the interests of democracy and freedom.

The world needs to wake up and realise that the US governement will do anything- absolutely anything that it deems in the interests of their small part of this world, at the expense of the lives, economies, environments (etc) of anywhere that is not of their territory.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
