I agree with you 101%! For me, the most talented female country singer as of today is Carrie Underwood. The only edge Taylor Swift has is her songs which anybody, especially the young ones, could relate to (we’ve been through those tough moments too when it comes to love, right?
XD). I don’t find her a great songwriter though ‘cause almost every song from her sounds the same… I don’t know if it’s just me or there are some other people who notice it. My personal favorite song from Carrie Underwood is her own rendition of the final piece (‘Inside Your Heaven’) from American Idol.
After her performance, it was clear that she’s the winner (although I’m rooting for her from the beginning). youtube.com/watch?v=PIk_Ax0dLvk Another female country singer I like is Faith ;).
I would like to coin my personal favorite, who is probably not as famous in the US as either Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood, Dutch country singer, Ilse delange! She's never had a track record like the other ladies, but is one of the few non-American country singers I know that actually know how to perform country songs in front of a huge live audience. youtube.com/watch?v=mfzu6fXvQlc She even has her very own caricature: youtube.com/watch?v=wjOlCVF7hWg.
There are these emerging country singings, I would say are talented but are bringing a new perspective of country music with Taylor Swift bringing a teen-pop/country music style and Carrie Underwood thinking about bringing a slight edge to her album with a R&B track with Ne-Yo. However, one of my favourite country singers is Alison Krauss. She joined the Grand Ole Opry earlier than Swift at 21 although she has made less impact on the public than in the last decade.
However she did do a tied album with Robert Plant that did get a platinum status and has intentions of making a new album as well. Although she is more of a bluegrass than country singer, I think she is more to the roots of the country perspective than modernistic and I think she is highly talented with only Jennifer Nettles very close behind. I have always liked her when I first heard her cover of When You Say Nothing At All, after previously hearing Ronan Keating's cover and then quickly fell in love with her and was a highly successful result for her, hitting number three on the Country Billbard at 23.
However, I think that Taylor Swift is a credited and talented musician especially of her age and is extremely clever in the route she is taking to which I think Carrie Underwood is trying to emulate.
I am from Oklahoma, @kerryk, and I assure you that we love us some Carrie Underwood down here. I would also agree that Taylor Swift is a truly gifted songwriter, but there is one singer that comes to mind immediately when thinking of vocal skills, and that is Jennifer Nettles. Nettles is the lead singer for Sugarland, and she has a tremendous amount of variety in her voice and range.
There are some people that I have talked to that say they "can't stand" her voice, and although her style is very different, I think the number of things that she can do with her voice is amazing. If you haven't heard the new Sugarland single, "Stuck Like Glue," give it a listen and see what you think. Nettles does a variety of different things in one song, and the "Wuh oh, uh oh" parts of the song are not something that you hear vocalists attempt on a daily basis.
Aside from Nettles, I think Miranda Lambert is another country music singer that ranks right up there with Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, but again, I am from Oklahoma, so I am probably biased on this one. Lambert and Underwood both have Oklahoma roots, and I went to the same high school as Lambert's country music husband, Blake Shelton, in the once small town of Ada. Lambert also has a very different voice from many of the other female country vocalists, and her range is depicted in many of her songs as well.
One that hasn't been mentioned yet is Shaina Twain, from Canada. :o) Faith I've loved their voices since I was younger. I don't think Taylor Swift is a good singer, above average, ok I'll give you that, she can keep a tone.
But so can I (most of the time), I'm not advertising. :o) She wrote all the songs she sang?...no wonder. I think there is only one song of hers that I truly like.
And I can't even name it. All I can say is, if they can make Paris they can make anyone sound good. Carrie Underwood is an amazing singer.
There is a hint of nasality, but besides that her voice is clear and beatiful.
BY all means Carrie Underwood is a great, talented and beautiful young lady and she would be my first pick. However, Jennifer Nettles from sugarland has a very distiquished voice that I love . Martina MvBride is also a great singer and she sure can it the high notes lol .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
