Teams score goals. And if team A gets more goals than team B, (say 1-0 or 4-3) they are credited with 3 points. If it's evens/stevens - TIED 0-0 or 3-3 - each team gets 1 point each.
In LEAGUE tables. But in some Knock-out Cup competitions, the scoring system is different, so as to settle which team teams proceeeds to the next round. Some provide for a Penalty Shoot-out - if after 30 minutes of Extra play, the teams are still level, at say 3-3.
Others provide for a 3-3 DRAW to score AWAY game goals to count as double the goals scored at HOME. Complicated...? Yes Confused...? Join the club...; )).
Kick the ball into the opponents goal and you have a score of 1-0 if you are the home team.
