I think if it is what you are interested in then you should go for it! A lot of people don't understand the depth of game development and computer science and only think of the artistic side of game development. If you were interested in engineering, you could major in computer engineering and minor in computer science to be more well rounded.
Regardless, if you in the future decided you still wanted to do something that requires writing code but don't want to do game development, you could do so many different things with computer science. You shouldn't listen to what your teacher says anyways you should do what interests you regardless of what that might be.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
