Who wanted to treat the former Confederate states as conquered provinces that deserved harsh treatment?

Stephanie, Many people in the North felt that the seceding states needed to be treated harshly, partially in retaliation for their actions and partially to ensure that they wouldn't consider doing it again. The most outspoken advocates of this position, though, were the Radical Republicans in Congress. They tried to pass laws that would treat the states harshly, but these laws were often vetoed by President Andrew Johnson (which eventually led to a power struggle between the President and Congress).

Thanks for your question. Good luck in your studies. More.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
