I do. I'll 2d your motion if you will 2d mine. All the money spent of the Oscars, Grammy's, etc would also be added to your suggestion.
$2.5 gowns & diamond studded shoes, the red carpet dress is only the 1st of 2 or 3 more they use that night. I would like to take care of our hungry & homeless first.
I'm not that concerned about the world's hungry, but I think there should be a limit to the amount a candidate or a supporter can spend on a campaign. I'd be willing to see that money wasted on campaigns used to help the poor in this country. The money doesn't really go away Feeding the hungry is a noble goal and a crucial task, but remember that the money spent on an election doesn't really go away. It's been transferred from the pockets of individual donors to the suppliers of the things the campaign needs: TV station owners, commercial makers, political pollsters, etc etc etc. Oh, some things are actually consumables, like yard signs, but that's overall a small portion of the money being spent. Salaries are the expensive part, not materials.
It's not like the campaigns are bonfires in which food is burned. They're churning the money, not (for the most part) removing it.In a perfect world we'd all live in peace and harmony with each other, skip the yard signs and the doughnuts, and provide for the poor of the world. But it's not nearly that easy.
If we all lived in peace and harmony, we wouldn't have the wars or political oppression that are keeping the poor destitute. So the political campaign is going to cost what it's going to cost, and some people are going to get rich off of it. I'd love to see them spend their money wisely, including helping out people who are worse off than they are. But you cannot tell other people how to spend their money.
You yourself may choose to spend your money on the campaign, send it to Africa, or keep it for yourself. Do what you think is right; that's what democracy is. And for all its flaws, I don't have any superior alternatives to democracy..
I was just telling someone I work with my feeling son this subject. All this money is spent for someone to tell us things they know we want to hear. They most likely will never follow through on these promises.
We all know this and don't need millions wasted. This money could do so much more. Then to top it all off the end decision isnt really up to URL1 many people are suffering from so many different things and we as a nation waste so much money with nothing to show for it.
The campaigning is just one thing out of many that waste ridicoulous amounts of money. I'm pretty sure this process of campaining and spending the amount of money needed was not used many years ago. I don't know this for a fact, but I just don't see how it could have been done.

Nope All the money spent on the US elections in 2008 won't feed 1/10th the world's hungry for one day. We spend more on bubble-gum than we do on elections.
I am trying to purchase an NWT world food programme feed bag and want to buy it so the money could go to feed the hungry.
