Well, he was kind of stuck. VPs are selected to pick up votes the candidate won't get. (Young candidates will pick old VPs, Northern candidtes will pick Southern VPs, etc.) Notice who McCain picked: Palin.
A woman who scored high with the religious right...the two GOP groups who gave him the least support. Since Romney is very close to Obama on policies, he had go with someone who could pick up votes from the libertarian and religious right. So he picked Ryan.
I wouldn't say Obama has it in the bag yet--you really need to wait until the debates start to judge that. You may not realize it, but the number of people who decide whether to vote and who to vote for in October is a pretty high number. So far each side has distorted the other's view so much that I don't think those October voters are going to be able to sort truth from spin.
The choice of Ryan gives both sides opportunity for tons of spin. If Romney wants to promise that he won't mess with Medicare every single time he opens his mouth, it could undercut a lot of what you think will happen. Personally I think that both sides are going to make so many insane accusations of each other that it will turn into a popularity contest amongst those who don't watch the news.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
