Why are African Americans often confused with Africans?

There are tribes in Africa where the people are 'light skinned'. No mixing. (like the Khoisan people) Although Black Americans, at least 58% of us have some European Ancestry, usually from the paternal line, on average around 12.5%.

Also 58% of us have some Native American ancestry but not much around 5%. Most of us have 78% West African ancestry here in America. According to studies anyways. Some Africans, not all (some forbid European Slavers from taking Africans or they'd kill them) sold their war prisoners and criminals to Europeans.

Europeans also did raids on African villages as well. So some slaves were stolen and not bought. Africans DID have slaves BUT their slavery was not the same as European Slavery, chattel slavery, which was harsh and inhumane.

African slaves could eventually become free and even rise in position. They ate as good as their masters and pretty much farmed and earned a way out. Same as the indentured Irish slaves in the United States who worked for 2-7 years and were free to go.

If they survived. In Africa a slave might be enslaved in order to pay off a debt or pay for a crime. Slaves in Africa lost the protection of their family and their place in society through enslavement.

But eventually they or their children might become part of their master’s family and become free. This was unlike European chattel slavery, in which enslaved Africans were slaves for life, as were their children and grandchildren. Now to answer: People have tons of misconceptions about Africans and Black Americans.

They think we all are supposed to have this one look unless we're mixed. Let them stay ignorant. Who cares about them?

:D.

What you say is exactly right and not only that but white people can have really dark skin even black is not unusual.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
