So I am not sure this will totally answer the question but I will give it a shot... the most.
Experienced pilot on the flight oversees the whole operation of the flight and is designated as 'Captain. ' I surmise that it is probably a designation to avoid confusion about who the PIC is.
The Captain must have an air transport pilot's license in addition to other requirements and they often have one or more advanced ratings according to a source...i am NOT a pilot.
So are the drivers of ships called Captains. I guess when you operate a big vessel the appropriate title is Captain.
Airline captains have very specific training that they undergo in order to become a captain and then continuous training at least twice yearly. There is no swearing in ceremony that I'm aware of, but they definitely work to get the title.
I am not a pilot but have a brother and brother-in-law who are airline captains. They both work very hard.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
