Why are Cheshire, Liverpool and Manchester considered to be part of 'Northern' England?

They are not obviously midlands counties, I'm from the North West and if you suggested to people in Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire that those 3 places were in the Midlands, they'd think you were seriously geographically challenged and also be bit offended to be honest Fact is Liverpool, Manchester and Cheshire are all officially in the North West.My guess is you are either from far up North and think pretty much everything below is the midlands OR you are from the Midlands and want to be associated more with those places, I don't know but either way you are incorrect The boundaries ALL have to start and end somewhere.

It`s a well known fact, to those who know it well, that nobody really knows where the north starts and the south finishes or where the midlands begin or even if they exist, to someone in Leeds, Manchester is South, but then again, if you are in ~Brighton, London is in the north..it`s all a matter of perspective..I blame Oliver Cromwell!

Because we ARE part of Northern England. In the case of the ones you quote they are NORTH WEST ENGLAND. South of Cheshire IS into The Midlands.

Such a line is NEVER straight. The Peak District of Derbyshire, although NOT in NW officially, is very Northern. Poor ADAM has never been to Chester, York or Alderley Edge to name just a few.

Easy to KNOCK what you do not know hey?!

Why are Cheshire, Liverpool and Manchester considered to be part of 'Northern' England Because its people obviously prefer to be called Northerners. And not poncy Southerners.

Anywhere north of Watford Gap is North, everywhere else is South.

Because a lot of people are London-centric (they see London as the focal point of the entire nation).

Cos their all north of Birmingham - ipso facto - they are in Northern England.

Because they fit so well with all the other Northern parts of the UK. Just look at the dreadful fashion, dodgy fake tan and horrid accents!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
