Why are day time talk show hosts primarily women and night time talk show hosts primarily men?

I'll bet this is one of those things no one really thinks about. Perhaps because more women are home during the day while men are home during the night. Perhaps having the women on during the day brings in far more viewers or better advertising dollars.

Remember the first talk show host for women during the day was Phil Donahue. He had an audience of millions. Perhaps the pay is better during the day instead of at night.

I'd love to see a female talk show on late night. How about Wanda Sykes on Saturday late night? Women are breaking in.

It's a demographics thing. An albeit somewhat outdated demographics thing, but a demographics thing regardless. The old thinking was that since women were generally housewives, they would be at home watching TV a lot, and as the thinking went (it's ridiculous thinking, but very entrenched), only women would want to watch talk shows hosted by women.

And since men are the default, they can get the prime-time slot. It's really kind of ridiculous that this still persists, but then, so do many gender stereotypes that have less and less base in reality.

I think it has something to do with work schedules. For most families, the woman stays home during the day to take care of the house and kids while her husband works. Women have their talk shows and soaps during that time slot so it doesn't "bother" the men.

When the men get off work, they come home and have dinner and have some TV time to relax.

Because women talk about women things-cooking, cleaning, complaining about thier significant other. Men tell jokes about current events and other things. Remember behind every good man there is a good women and behind every good women there is a good man.

I believe they cater to housewives,home makers, stay at home mothers during the day and cater to business men at night.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
