What are your thoughts on Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn's recent actions regarding "Cyber-Misogyny" and "Gamergate"?" To be honest, I think it's kind of a joke...I just haven't decided which part of it is the funniest. I mean on the one hand you have cult like followings for both women which have resorted to online harassment to avenge perceived slights...but of course THEIR online thugs are not the ones who would be silenced if they had their way.
Then there's the irony of them whining to the UN about nasty online disagreements being a violation of their human rights, and looking for action from world leaders, many of whom are guilty of ACTUAL physical human rights violations, to stop people from being rude to feminists online! And if that doesn't make you chuckle, then consider the privilege these first world feminists wield, that they can mobilize more nations to talk about these petty whines when civil conflicts or outright civil wars are raging in Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon and Nigeria...and those are just the conflicts I could list off the top of my head. Both Sarkeesian and Quinn are professional victims...and that seems to be how they make their living...which is why they were horrible spokeswomen to begin with!
They will ALWAYS find something to claim as oppressive to women...because without it, they would have to find a productive way to make their living...and it's much easier to provoke and then claim victimhood. "I've just been reading about cyber bullying as a whole after reading it. I hadn't realized how many young people had committed suicide, or how "trolls" turn online memorials into jokes."
Cyber bullying is a problem, but it's a problem that should not be reduced to merely a problem that faces women. And lets be clear...there are feminists who have bullied people who dare to disagree with them or do things they don't like. To claim harassment is something only women face...is to effectively legalize discrimination against people based on their sex and/or political views.
I thought it was interesting. The internet makes bullying far too easy - but I'm not sure about solutions. I've just been reading about cyber bullying as a whole after reading it.
I hadn't realized how many young people had committed suicide, or how "trolls" turn online memorials into jokes. I love the freedom of the internet, but hate when people who are too cowardly to say things in real life post anonymous garbage.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
