Why are items in Python's os module missing from Jython?

Python's and Jython's os modules differ because Java doesn't allow native system access. For example, Java does not have a chdir equivalent, so it does not exist in Jython's os module. Jnios is an alternative os module that replaces the default os module with a more complete Java/JNI implementation of Python's os and posix modules.
