Why are items rarely plural on Chinese food menus?

Virtually evereything that should be pluralized isn't. I used to speak a tiny bit or Mandarin, that I learned when I studied Kung Fu,but I never asked the teacher this question, and it was someone other than my Sifu. Not Used The Japanese language doesn't use plurals. Bet that Chinese doesn't either. "One key feature of Chinese grammar is that all words have only one grammatical form, as the language lacks conjugation, declension, or any other inflection (there are minor exceptions).

Functions such as number in nouns or tense in verbs are expressed through word order or particles. In other words, where nouns might be distinguished by singular and plural ("woman" and "women") or verbs by number or person ("I go", "he goes"), Chinese lexemes are typically invariant. Yep, it's language I seem to remember from a lecture that in Cantonese many nouns have no plural form, or plurals are specific to amount / number of the item. Sources: chinese-lessons.com/cantonese/grammarL1P... .
