In the US, probably not unless, of course, they are married to someone who wasn't a minimum wager. The social security benefit would be a low one - reflective of low earnings. In fact it would probably be so low that the minimum wage earner might also be entitled to SSI (supplemental security income) which pays a maximum benefit of $733 a month currently.
SSI is the federal welfare program which is paid to people with low income/resources who are either disabled or over age 64. A person entitled to both a low social security benefit and SSI receives a total income $753 a month. They would also be entitled to Medicaid and probably food stamps.
Even if the social security benefit would be too high for entitlement to SSI it is doubtful that the individual would be able to fully retire. More than likely they would have to have at least a part-time job to make ends meet - and then half of what is earned over $65 a month will reduce the SSI benefit. They can currently earn $15,720 a year without it affecting their social security benefit.
SSI and social security are two entirely different programs. Unless a person has a mental and/or physical condition which would account for their being able to only get minimum wage jobs, they should take whatever classes they can to gain the skills needed to better support themselves. Just having a high school diploma results in over $300,000 more in earnings over a person's lifetime then someone without a high school diploma.
Life will always be a financial struggle for minimum wagers. Source: I was a social security claims rep for 32 yrs.
Not if they stay a minimum wage earner their entire life. Minimum wage jobs were NEVER designed to be life long jobs. They are for first time workers to gain work skills (teenagers).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
