The underlying premise of a newspaper is that it is supposed to report the news in a way that is factual, not necessarily biased, although there are plenty of columns in a newspaper where opinion and bias are presented (and hopefully labeled as such although that doesn't always happen.) Different kinds of writers are drawn to different kinds of publications. A serious news writer would be drawn to a newspaper with a longstanding dedication to revealing the real facts and the truth behind what is going on in the world, versus just gossip or hearsay. Science and medial journals have an even higher standard in that the findings presented are done so in an effort to be challenged and validated by other scientists and medical professionals.
And there are physical rules to the Universe that simply don't lie such that, were a writer who was given to gossip, exaggeration and hearsay to try to make it with such writing in a science or medical journal, they would quickly be disproven, ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
