People get mixed up with sin, transgression and debt and forget a little of the language concerned. Let's draw out some of the terms. I'll provide my own definitions, its up to you whether you wish to substitute your own.
Be careful if any substituted definitions become more convenient than practical: 1. Sin is a state of separation between people and God. Whilst it may be convenient to lay the blame on God for such a state, that's more about us putting obstacles between us and God, than about God.
2. Transgressions are things done that are not in accordance with God's law. It can also be used in other contexts.
This is often what people think when they use the word "sin," but alone this is nowhere near the big picture. 3. Debt is an obligation.
The context where you can think about this is in the context that any law has a consequence. Let's put these last two together to complete the definition. If there is a law about driving over the speed limit and you transgress that law, it is likely you incur a speeding fine.
Until you pay the fine, you are in debt to the authorities. If you have an attitude (compare to sin) that says that you can continue speeding regardless of law or authority, then you will continue to incur debt. If you cannot pay the fines you will be called before a magistrate.
In the case of the Christian faith, you can substitute the magistrate with God and the law with the laws found in the bible. By definition none of us can pay the debts we incur ourselves. Sin is the attitude which would stop us having respect for the authorities and continuing to transgress the law, despite the accumulation of debt.
In this instance, a sinner is simply someone accruing a debt. By this definition we are all sinners. Sin, in its primary definition, results from the things we put between ourselves and God.
The Christian faith, centred upon Jesus, holds that all the debts have been put aside, with the injunction that we should try to avoid accruing future debt. Debt still accrues; what is intended to change is an attitude that would prefer to place obstacles between ourselves and God. The outcome is intended to become a liberation from debt, a desire to stop our transgressions and an ability to focus on the giver and intent of the rules, not just the letter of the law.
A sin is a disorder which goes against human nature. Since it is a disorder it is a great offence against God. For example contraceptive sex is.
A disorder because the purpose of sex is procreation within marriage.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
