I agree entirely but need to add the simple and obvious truth that Liberty can not survive if citizens fail to use their Rights in a responsible manner. The irresponsible must have their Rights limited by a court of law and by no other means. America suffers from a Filed Judicial Branch of Government.
We don't need more laws or regulations we only need to hold the irresponsible Liable for the harm they create instead of causing Greater injustice by forcing responsible citizens to correct the messes caused by those who are too irresponsible to even care for themselves and their families. That principle applies to more than just the gun rights issue.
There are two powerful drives that can not be legislated away- 1. The sex drive, any liberal will tell you that it is impossible to say "No". Not that I agree with them.
I happen to believe the ability to say "No" is a God given liberty. 2. Self preservation.
For the life of me I can not understand how the liberals feel this instinct can be legislated away. In an orderly society that is growing every adult is held accountable. Accountable for their actions and for the safety of the community.
In the US this accountability is missing. The average US citizen feels that they have a right to do ever they want to with out fear of the consequences. This is the primary failure!
Take Switzerland where every citizen is a member of the military either on active duty or in the reserves. They don't have our crime problem. If we restored the concept that being a good citizen is important then maybe things would change.
Until US society is a safe society there will always be a need for fire arms in the hands of the individual. When the society feels they no longer need fire arms then it means they have made an assumption which is wrong- because every generation has law breakers and thieves! The right to fire arms is based on the laws of nature if nothing else and is a primal instinct and to loose the primal instinct makes us as a society nothing but a human counter part to the Dodo Bird!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
