Fast food ,junk food, high calorie diets, and we don't exercise half as much as we should.

Just think... if we didn't drive cars, but had to walk - I bet we'd be in shape then. Mr.^Carrot 5 days ago .

Because we eat too damn much, and we exercise too damn little! That's it. Period.

And yes, it sucks to get older! Kat .

I exercised today! That beer doesn't walk itself from the store! Mr.^Carrot 5 days ago .

It's the sweeteners. Modern food is just loaded with sweetening, and we gobble it up. We also used to do a lot more actual work 30 years ago.

Even desk jobs involved a lot more walking around back then.

Must be the GMO's. Artificial, not Natural. And Lack of exercise, like you said, there, The Light Works.

And Squeeky, Goldie, Casy...I COULD USE A BEER ABOUT NOW! And some candy too... :( Mr.^Carrot 5 days ago .

The only factor the modified sugars add is that they make it cheaper to pack everything we eat with extra calories.

Some people get fat because of a hormonal imbalance. Others get fat because of an unhealthy diet. Most people get fat by eating too many high carbohydrate foods, such as refined (processed) carbohydrates, and not getting enough exercise.

If you eat healthy foods and do cardio exercise you can lose fat. Fruits such berries, and non starchy vegetables, are much better snack options than refined (processed) carbohydrates. As you become older, your metabolism slows down.

Then you have no alternative but to boost your metabolism by avoiding refined (processed) carbohydrates, limiting even natural carbohydrates, and exercising more. Refined (processed) carbohydrates are the major cause of obesity. Your body takes in more carbohydrate than it needs.

Consuming fewer refined (processed) carbohydrates and burning off more calories through exercise is the way to avoid weight gain, obesity, and other diet related diseases. It is also the way to reverse weight gain, obesity and some diet related diseases.

I can do it! Coach? Are you going to help?

Yes? Mr.^Carrot 5 days ago .

Yoga practice will also helps to increase your body metabolism, increase the calorie burning process, but it is not a method of giving immediate results. Becoming slim and trim through yoga practice will be a by-product of the yoga practice and not a goal. With regular yoga practice and trying with some healthy foods can definitely provide a slim and trim body.

A slow and gradual approach is more important with all yoga practices. The outcomes may not be great and instantaneous or immediate; however it is one of the best long-term weight loss methods that are available today for becoming slim and trim. Besides weight loss you can also benefit from an increased resistance power against unfavorable factors and a general feeling of well being and inner peace with Yoga practice.

Great Effort.....Bikram Yoga and Ashtanga yoga are two main yoga techniques that can be applied when you are trying to lose weight.

Because we don't exercise and eat too much junk.

I exercise and am still a fatso. Even not eating doesn't help. Mr.^Carrot 5 days ago .

Oh, how I wish I weren't included in these statistics - love to cook and love to eat, even my own cooking. Not nearly enough exercise. Walking is the key for me.

Cannot do it now and up goes the weight.

When we were younger we moved around a lot more. As an example a couple of months ago I took care of all three of my grandchildren for about five days. At the end of that week without even trying I lost two pounds.

I was shocked, but running around chasing a five, four and one year old at the time sure did the trick. My daughter should rent those kids out.......

It is not expensive to eat healthy food. As a matter of fact it is cheaper to cook healthy flavorful food than to go through the drive through window for burgers, fries, ribs, chilli dogs, carvel, pizza, heros, and so on.As a Republican who cooks all my famly meals and never goes to those places maybe the fat people that do are LAZY? Aparently they are not listening to Michelle who eats fattening food all the time on the sneak.

We have a tsunami of fast food places coupled with a value for instant gratification. Add that to an overall ignorance of nutrition itself, people never walking anywhere, and computers that you sit at to play games and earn a living, and you have a mess. Michelle Obama has really tried to tackle the problem via educating people on nutrition, but has received, as usual, a plethora of resistance from Republicans who seem to think if you make the wealthy skinny, it will just naturally trickle down via osmosis to the fat unfortunate.

Well put. Reminds me of a thought I had - it is hard to lose weight without enough money to buy proper foods and supplements. Maybe other things besides like nice shoes, a bike, etc.Kind of a paradox.

Actually it costs less to eat healthy foods, but of course it takes time to prepare. I've seen quite few shows that explain that fact. Its interesting to realize.

People just need to be educated. I agree about the supplements, but with a healthy diet, supplements wouldn't be as important, and, health care cost go down accordingly as well. It will take a change of paradigm about food and time for heavy people to really change their weight. It will take human will, at the sacrifice of what people think they are gaining on the fast track.....which is little more than weight.

For the same reason we're all in debt: we stopped knowing how to say "NO" to others because we stopped being able to say "NO" to ourselves.

A matter of the lack of self discipline. Mostly true, I think. Mr.^Carrot 5 days ago .

Check out my blog. It has the answer to that question. Just scroll down to the section where it says.

Avoid Eating Simple Carbs. thebesttipsforweightlosssuccess.blogspot... com.

It is also the way to reverse weight gain, obesity and some diet related diseases.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
