It's still quite a bit more expensive than coal, gas, or even nuclear per energy unit. Solar is nice for remote villages, where they might only need to power communication equipment and a couple lights, but for cities and industrial processes it's much less satisfactory. Wind and solar require backup or storage to provide useful electricity, also adding to the cost.

Because these folks are very smart. They do simple math calculations and have determined that electric produced from these methods is generally at least twice the price.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
