Technology doesn't create this stuff, though. People who wish to socially isolate and would do so anyways just hide behind technology to do so now. I am a fair example of this, and I thank technology every day for it.
You can basically break people down into two groups--outgoing and reserved. Outgoing people actually use crap like cell phones and social media WAAAAY more than reserved people do, but reserved people are the ones who hide behind it. Outgoing people use these things to AID them in creating a social life.
They have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all that garbage, and they have 600 FB friends, 400 Twitter followers. They know many of those people in person, and they are not satisfied with just interacting with them online because they need physical and verbal stimulation from people. So they use that stuff to make plans, to meet new people and to communicate excessively, i.e.
Communication via technology IN ADDITION to in person. Reserved people use FB, Twitter, texting and such much less. For example, me--I have no need for that stuff because I barely have friends.
I barely had friends before all of it existed. I go out in public and I use technology such as headphones and the iPhone to keep from making eye contact and to look busy because I don't want to talk to most people and don't want them approaching me. I did things like avoided eye contact before, but it was harder without technology.
Still, even back in the day, I used a walkman all the time or a portable CD player with headphones. There was still tech around for reserved people to hide behind in order to avoid socializing they don't want. I actually communicate more with people now thanks to technology because I go on sites like Y!
A and message forums and post. Otherwise, I'd still just listen to music and watch TV 18 hours of the day like I used to. I still try not to talk to people in person, though.
Not all reserved people don't want to talk to people, but some are too shy or lack confidence--that has nothing to do with technology, either.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
