Humanity is a concept, perhaps a utopian concept. We all believe that one day, all human beings would be possessing virtues attributable to a perfect human being, the world would be one country and there would be only one religion called humanity. With this belief and we proceed forward to the future and we also try to improve upon ourselves.
We try to be kind, honest, cooperative, tolerant and respectful in accordance with the general perception about the virtues that are considered to be philanthropic However, there are so many diversities prevailing in humanity since the dawn of civilization. So many races, cultures, religions as also conflicting interests in terms of authority, economy and religion. These areas of conflict manifests through hatred, discrimination, apathy, mistrust and loss of respect and tolerance, thereby, contributing to misanthropy worldwide Like everybody else, I also have put my trust on the concept that truth and good senses always win over everything that is untrue, evil and immoral.
Although the definition of good, bad or evil may be relative and varying, I tend to believe that there is something like absolute good and perfect humanity that would unite all humans under the banner of humanity and bring about good times forever in this earth.
Because there are many different interpretations about what "humanity" would mean. What does it mean to unite under that banner? What would that tell us to do?
What would it tell us not to do? These are all very subjective questions, even though we would think there should be some normative answer to them, it's incredibly elusive.
Religion, culture, upbringing, environment, emphasis on natural resources that are dwindling...different languages and different perceptions of reality, different historical inheritances that are drawn upon to form ideas and prejudices...not everyone will think the same, not everyone will see the same, thus there will always be dissent among human kind.
Because its human nature to squabble and bicker. Not everyone can be alpha male, top dog. Its a dog eat dog world, survival of the fittest (fattest!) People ARE selfish and mean.
The many different Religions and their Priests are divisive and breed War and Violence.
The very nature of governments and authority make conflicts inevitable.
Because they keep getting tied down and fooled by Religion.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
