False. Obama spent more than that. Six trillion dollars is just what was added to the National Debt.
Roughly 60% of all federal spending is covered with tax dollars. The actual total of what was spent over those 4 years is more like $14 trillion. And blame for that debt actually goes to Republicans in Congress.
The economy may have crashed on Bush's watch, but it's the current batch of Republicans in Congress who are preventing us from doing anything about it. At a time when deficit spending is actually justified and proven to be an effective tool to rebuild economies following recession, these GOP fools are trying to balance the budget. Half the country doesn't even earn enough to qualify to owe federal income taxes, and they don't believe we have a revenue problem?!
Let's look at the upcoming debt ceiling debate. Republicans claim they will let the federal government go into default unless we adopt their demands for severe spending cuts. Essentially, they are forcing us into a position of either accepting severe austerity measures and double-dip recession, like they are experiencing in Europe, or shutting down the federal government and triggering complete economic collapse.
And people wonder why Obama doesn't get more blame for our economic problems.
Actually the federal budget has been over $3 Trillion dollars per year for time now. I think you are referring to the deficit not spending. We've also been running large ($1 Trillion+) deficits for some time (basically for most of Bush's presidency onward) yet no one seems to have cared about that before Obama was elected.
It is true that Obama has run a slightly larger deficit each year than Bush did in his final years but that isn't because of increased appropriations. In the 2008 and 2009 budget a lot of it was the stimulus. Most of the rest of it was due to the fact that revenues fell through the floor because so many people lost their jobs in the financial crisis and unemployment outlays went up as a response.
Obama has not increased discretionary spending by much, contrary to popular belief on the right.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
