Yes, actually that's a fair comparison. Sounds like even the wackiest lefty nutjobs are starting to turn on the chosen one. Carters inexperience and ineptness led to the Iran Hostage Crisis grinding on for 444 days, far longer than it had to.
Ditto for Bam's oil spill. The IHC was also a major reason Carter didn't win re-election, along with the unpopularity of his policy agenda, ditto for Bam. You could compare his oil crisis with Bush Sr.'s exxon valdez spill, but that would only illustrate just how badly Bam is doing.
The exxon valdez disaster was smaller and handled quickly in comparison to this.
Both are man made crises which happened during presidencies where the incumbents took too long to weigh outcome and consequences rather than implement effective solutions. In Obama's case, he relied too heavily on BP daily reports and the lack of action from them means they were not pushed hard enough, or enough resourceswere not implemented to stop the majority of oil reaching Louisiana's shores. It does nothing when a president finally has a press conference, reminds us one again that he is in charge, other than remind us that talk is cheap and action should have been implemented weeks ago.
BP has been driving the methodology of the solution and is more concerned about profit than the loss of 11 lives, the many injured and, their failure to address the conditions on board the rig prior to the blow out. It is all very well for a prime contractor to blame their subcontractors, but in the end, it is the prime's responsibility to ensure that quality of product and OSHA rules are followed. BP seems to have abdicated their responsibilty and Obama seems to have bought into that.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
