Zachary, if your knowledge of current events is based on "my daddy says", I'd spare yourself some ridicule and avoid posting ignorant comments on the Internet. If you think the media didn't report on the story until the oil hit the beaches, you were most likely in a a month-long coma. There was nothing hush-hush about a massive oil rig exploding, killing 11, and creating one of the country's largest environmental disasters.
And to all you so-called conservatives who have spent the past 2 years decrying Obama a socialist dictator who wants the government to take over everything, do you not realize how hypocritical you sound? Two months ago, you wanted the government out of everything, now you blame Obama for not taking over and fixing a private company's problem. Not only that, you want an actual socialist government to come bail BP out of this mess.
And to top it all off, you people still trust oil companies to open up and run even more oil rigs in the ocean. You can't have your tea and drink it, too.
Liberals on here have no clue what you're talking about. They are clueless about the Jones Act and have no idea that help was offered in many different ways just days after the spill began but was refused by the great arrogant one. So they answer your question by calling you a liar, asking for a source or posting a comment that has nothing to do with an answer.
And yes, Bush waived the Jones Act after Katrina. Obama can't do that or he'll p*ss off his union buddies.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
