It's not the TVs that are required to be digital: it is the over the air broadcast transmissions. The reason for it is; you can send a lot more data using a lot less "space" in the transmission frequency range: and we were running out of space. Case in point: when my department is responding to a fire call in some parts of the district; we have a nearby district that is on such a close radio frequency to ours that they talk over us.

Taking TV to digital makes more space; so there is more space available for emercency services to communicate; without interfering with each other.

With the new system; you still can, as long as you have a digital reciever - which the goverment was giving free coupons for at the time of the conversion.

Because Congress wrote it and voted for it. That is how the government works in the USA.

As Gary said - Congress (the House and the Senate) passes laws and the President signs the bill. The president can veto the bill (the information about a law is called a bill in its written form). But if the president does veto it, then it can return to the Congress, where they can vote to over-ride the veto.

We tend to hold presidents accountable for all laws........but all laws must be passed by a majority of the members of Congress.

Greetings ,President Bush didn't pass any law at all because that is not the President's job. CONGRESS voted for that one; he merely okayed the idea. As for why, to give us Americans better TV so we'll be more likely to be hypnotized and not care when our economy crashes.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
