Women started wearing trousers (now just called pants,) because dresses were too cumbersome and not practical for many work environments. Once this was accepted as the 'norm', women's fashions started including pants for professional and everyday wear...and yes, unless something radical happens and we are stripped of our rights to choose, women will continue wearing them.
Many said as last answer they were too cumbersome in dresses for factory work. Though women were wearing pants before WWII that is said to be the actual time it became "acceptable" for them to be in pants.
I asked my Mom this the other day as I was watching an old movie, the original "Mildred Pierce" perhaps ... and the woman was up a ladder doing cleaning work in a *pencil skirt*. A pencil skirt! Up a ladder!
Mom (who is in her 60s) said she could remember it being that way as she grew up, waching my grandma. Two generations ago seemed too "recent" for me to even believe it, but Mom swears she never once saw her mother in anything other than a skirt or dress her entire childhood or teens! And when she did start wearing them, they were part of a panstsuit.
Well, I for one am a comfort-loving gal who is happy to be in this generation of pants-wearers.
Very few women started to wear pants until Katherine Hepburn (a great actress in the 1930's and 40's) broke the boudaries and wore pants everywhere. She pulled it off with grace and ease, and ever since then, it has pretty much become acceptable for women to wear them. Katherine- I thank you!
I think women started wearing trousers to mark the end of spontaneous sexual intercourse. Will it continue? Well, once you've got those pants on, it's hard to get them off ..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
