Why did Xerox buy ACS?

To expand the services organization. There is not sufficient margin in hardware for any big technology company to survive. It is imperative to have a global services organization.

The news release mentions desktop services as a natural extension of print services. This is high margin business. It is easier to acquire than to build large service organizations.
