There are American pick-up trucks and SUVs with big V8s on European roads, just not nearly as many as in the USA. But don't say that no one drives them because that's not true. One of my friends drives a Ford F150 and my niece used to own a Dodge RAM.
The price of the truck itself is not the problem, but the high fuel costs and hefty tax and insurance fees make them unfeasible for most. Some people convert them to run on natural gas (the installation costs around 2000-ish € on average) but that still leaves the high insurance/tax. You can easily buy a BMW 3-series or Audi A4 with the money you'd be spending.
Part of the reason is that gas costs about $8/gal in the UK so people drive smaller cars, and drive less. Also distances are generally shorter (All of England would fit between San Francisco and Los Angeles!) In the US we have a 'big car culture'. We figure we just DESERVE big huge cars like SUVs and pickup trucks.
We buy 4WD SUVs and never take them off road! This is one reason so many politicians suggest raising fuel prices with a 'carbon tax'.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
