Why do Catholics use images of Jesus when according to the Ten Commandments you should not have any other god than God?

Jesus never claimed to be the 'Son of God' (a title bestowed on him by others) preferring the title 'Son of Man' to emphasise his humanity. He also claimed MUCH more than that. He claimed to be God himself incarnate in a human body.

This 'God the Son' is very different than simply 'Son of God'. Thus, in Christianity, Jesus is believed to be both totally human and totally divine. As such, if we want to see what God is like, we should look at Jesus - all loving, all powerful. To the Christian, Jesus is part of the Trinity - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - three persons and yet one God.

Think of humans (made in God's image) also being somewhat Trinitarian - they have a body (like Jesus) a mind (like the Father) and a spirit (like the Holy Spirit) - three different personas but still one person As for the 'graven image' point, this referred to the ancient Jews who were prone to worship other 'gods' given a chance ( as some of them did during the exile and on their return, and during the reign of evil kings like Ahab). Therefore the worship of 'graven images' was outlawed. Note that this commandment comes directly after the commandment: 'worship no other gods but me'.

That was done for a reason! As for depicting Jesus as an image, there is nothing wrong with this as by worshiping jesus we are also worshiping God, just as he asked us Catholics believe in one divine God, but that God is also Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit Answer Catholics believe that Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit are all one in the same as God (Trinity). They also use images of Mary, Angles, Saints, and others for worship, but worship only one Divine God Answer Displaying images of Jesus is not limited to the Catholics.

Other Christian denominations also do it. You can see this almost anywhere; in Publications, calendar, stickers and even in highway billboards, etc Answer Because the Ten Commandments are only for the Hebrews (study the first Commandment carefully)."I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt out of the house of bondage God did not give these Ten Commandments to any other tribes Even Paul taught (the Gentiles) that we are not under the "Law see Luke 16 16 Romans 6 14 Romans 7 4, 6 Romans 10 4 2 Corinthians 3 14 Galatians 3 13 Galatians 3 24-25 Galatians 5 18 Ephesians 2 15 Colossians 2 14 Answer Jesus is God. Furthermore the reason why Catholics use images or statues of anything is for the same reason why you have pictures of family members or posters.

It is because you love and respect them and they remind you of something valuable but what it doesn't mean is that you worship them or consider them God. Anyone who does worship an image or idol is guilty however and a hypocrite of their faith if it is Catholic I believe this statement to be wrong because the Catholics have taken away a part of the Ten Commandments, and so they separated the 10th commandment into 2, so that it will fit. The original 2nd commandment says that you are not even to make an image out of God, because virtually, you are worshipping the idol, and not God.

Furthermore, it says in Revelation that whoever adds or takes away any of the holy scriptures of God will be blotted out from the Book Of Life. You are not actually reminding yourself of God, for in Exodus it is stated that the Jews had created a golden calf TO REPRESENT God! The Lord was furious at the Jews for doing so.

I enclose my statement with such, hoping you will find hope in the Bible. Please, don't take my word for it, take the Bible's word for it, because it is where God speaks now. Compare the Catholic's Bible to the other Bibles, and you can see that the Catholic Bible has taken away AND added to the Bible.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
