We need to get people back to work in order to help fill our tax coffers. Cuts alone will never do it. Why the thumbs down?
By your rationale you'd tell your landlord that you're going to reduce your rent to help the economy. How long do you think that would fly?
If that was true, then no recent president would have had trouble balancing the budget. Reagan and the Bushes, every Republican president in 30 years, built their whole campaign around tax cuts and spending cuts and a promise to make the budget their first priority. But once in office they found what they'd promised was impossible (actually, after Reagan, I think they knew it was impossible when they made the promise!) Reaganomics has been an enormous failure, a 30-year trainwreck.
Tax cuts have -never- paid for themselves, besides they only seem to go to the top 1%. And every president of both parties, since Truman, has used military spending to stimulate the economy. The great irony of the late 20th century is that the only president who actually did cut spending, reduce deficits and get us within spitting distance of a balanced budget was not a Republican.
PLUS he gave a tax cut to the middle class, fulfilling another promise Republicans have made and broken for years. If Clinton had been president one more year we would have had a balanced budget. In fact, all GW Bush had to do was sit on his hands that first year and he could have taken credit for the first balanced budget in decades.
But Bush simply could not wait to undo all of Clinton's good work. With what? A big tax cut for gazillionaires, what else?
Clinton even had a plan to pay off the entire national debt by 2009.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
