Why do I have to request to build a Mahalo page now, when I used to just create it? Why can't we add redirects ourselves anymore?

There has been a change in mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-commun... policy about a month ago. I can't answer the specifics of your question (that is for Mahalo to do) but at least I can direct you to the rationale given to the community.

1. Mahalo decided to be a bit more strict on what pages are created. You can still request any page you want, and if Mahalo staff thinks it is an addition to the site, they will allow you to. Even better, they will even PAY you to build that page, something that wasn't possible before!

So, it is well worth the wait until they assign you the task. 2. Redirects were mis-used to redirect non-related terms.

If you want redirects for your page, just send a request to contact@mahalo. Com, and they will create them for you, as long as they are appropriate. With these actions, Mahalo Staff wants to make sure you don't build pages, or create redirects that aren't any good, which will then have to be deleted again, wasting both your, and their time and effort.

I find this new system working pretty well!

There were so many pages being created that were essentially duplicates that it was becoming a nightmare for staff. They also had to take pages away and delete them, which wasn't fun for them or the people that lost those duplicate pages. Being able to get paid for the work is a big plus!

But even more importantly, it lets the QC team check the page to make sure it is complete and fits the standard for the type of page. Some have very specific information they need and there is no way for someone to know what that is if they just start the page from scratch, and no one knew the page needed to be checked because there was not really anything to send up a flag to someone to check it. For some types of pages, you need to be on a special team, like the how to's and game walkthroughs, or buzzy news items... they are not handled like other pages and only trained people do them, and that way they are done correctly and the quality Mahalo is striving for is maintained.As far as redirects... @lon mentioned that previously it was given by belt level and they were switching to a new system with 3.0 that would let them give it out to individuals.

It is very possible that you will be receiving that back once we launch and they begin turning it on for those that need it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
