Why do I keep getting pop-ups on my computer even after I have turned the blocker on?

Here's an interesting tidbit of Internet information: Brian Shuster takes credit for creating the popup ad. In 2003, he tried to patent them to make money from every launch of a new window. If you see him or his company (Utherverse), make sure to toss a drink his way.Literally.

Unfortunately, no popup blocker is 100% effective. There is a cat and mouse game that is played between the folks who make money from popup advertising and the people who create popup blocking software. Popup blocking software does what it can to stay ahead of popup advertisers, but because of the way that browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc) work, there is simply no solution.

The best thing that you can do is to NEVER click on a popup or popunder ad. If no one clicked on these ads then they wouldn't be as profitable and wouldn't exist. This sure isn't much of a solution, but unfortunately this is the best there is.

Currently, there is publicly available code that allows easy popups from from Safari and Internet Explorer. I'd expect this hole to be patched in the coming weeks and for the cat and mouse game to continue.

You have some form of a virus. If you've aleady installed and tried running your virus program on your computer try using the online web-based PandaScan at pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/ac... It can not be infected by virus's on your computer and will at least tell you the source of your problem. Best of all it's free!

Well You Could Have One of two things. 1) You May have Virus or Malware that is bring th sites up. 2) You could have allowed pop ups on the site in the past and they might be poping up from the previous allowed sites.

Make sure your allowed sites is clear. That the only other thing I can think of. Becareful of Antivirus programs, a number of them contain viruses themselves.

I've found personally that using Adblock Plus with the EasyList filter enabled actually prevents a fair few advertising pop-ups. I know this because certain sites I visit regularly trigger pop-ups when my Adblock Plus is disabled or when I'm not visiting them in Firefox. Will also block a lot of the other junk that you have to deal with on the web.(Advertisements are sometimes used as a vector for malware and may link to disreputable sites, amongst other things).

Because you likely have Malware/Spyware on your PC. I assume you have Windows? Try running Malwarebytes, it's free.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
