Sergers are fun if you sew knits, such as sports clothes or bathing suits. Also good for kids clothing and toys. If you sew a lot you probably would enjoy one.

I had one when my kids were little, and sold it when they grew up. The one drawback is they can be difficult to thread. Just buy from someone that has customer support.

Believe it or not, guys are often good with threading these things. There are probably times I could still use one, but the lady that bought mine was very grateful! Sewing is so much fun!

One of the main reasons I bought a serger at the time of buying a regular sewing machine is that a serger does such a wonderful job for seams finishing. It's quick and looks much nicer when you check the inside seams. Very efficient and I wouldn't want to sew without a serger to finish up.

It's quick for doing edging on towels, any cloth covers, golly, the list is endless! My serger model is intricate for threading, as they all are, but I made an afternoon session of studying the manual and going over each thread track so eventually I got the hang of it and know what to do without feeling lost. My two cents.
