When we had it, it DID help, though we got rid of it too soon. Long-term studies have shown that, not ONLY did beneficiaries go on to have good careers, but they were MORE likely than their non-minority peers to give money and time to helping others also move up. But it was too short-lived, and too small an effort.
And then conservatives gained power, and have destroyed the possibility of decent lives for almost ALL Americans. If we could return to liberalism, and again have a middle class, and lots of opportunities, it would be good to include minorities this time. Edit: So YOU would "let the patient die" without doing anything at all to make anything better, if we can't instantly completely cure the problem?
In other words you ask ONLY out of hatred of everyone not like YOU. We HUMANS disagree. If we had more comprehensive efforts on a number of fronts, we could have real equality.
That is something that all HUMANS agree would be a GOOD thing.
They can be, but worse than being Band-Aids, they can also be counter-productive, and we seldom talk about the negative effects on those the programs are trying to help. Also, it's a problem that there's no good way to measure any of these effects.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
