Men do not have to shave their legs or really shave their faces if they don't want to. They don't wear makeup or alter themselves for the most part. Women were not born with makeup and some do have hair on their legs and their under arms for that matter.
It is certainly a man's world because if women ran it I for one would look like an ape and go Julia Roberts with the under arms and be fine with it. I think I would make it so the men shaved their legs and underarms. Ha Ha!

It's a bit more complex than that... Well, not all men like women to wear make-up. My wife has a naturally beautiful face and looks great, even without make-up (IMHO). I don't like it when she wears lipstick when we go out because she doesn't let me kiss her properly in case in messes up the lippie.
The shaving and all that is generally cultural (not every culture thinks that women should shave - and some regard it as improper). Also, in my experience, women shave as much because of how they think other women will react if they don't (not just how men would react). So, women perpetuate this "cultural norm" (as far as the US is concerned) themselves.
I see this as true even I look around at the women I know that I see as very self-empowered. And trust me, I shave my face even when I don't want to. Although facial hair is more generally accepted in the US, there are limits.
For example, if I came to work looking unshaven on a regular basis, I would certainly hear about it (due to the professional environment I work in). Yes, yes, I know I have a goatee but I still have to shave the rest of my face (and I made sure I grew in my goatee when I was on vacation when I first got it). Also, even without the work requirement, I would shave because my wife prefers me clean shaven (aside from the goatee).
There you go, a male presurred into shaving by a female :-) In terms of mean not shaving the rest of their bodies, that is again down to cultural norms and preferences. Some women/men like their male partner to have some bosy hair and some don't and they'll pick male partners accordingly. Some men do indeed depilate (though I personally don't).
Now, having said all that, all of the above is just me being a pain-in-the-*rse devil's advocate when it comes to generalims :-) If women did indeed run the world, things would undoubtedly be different. Now, what interests me, is can we set things up such that both sexes equally run things rather than men running it or women running it. Have fun!

Habits, culture Men don't shave their legs because being hairy is generally considered masculine. Smoothness is associated with femininity. That's a cultural thing, not a biological one: in some cultures women don't shave their legs.In fact it's only part of our culture for the last hundred years or so, once bare legs and even armpits became common.
But that doesn't mean men don't work to look attractive. Men commonly exercise, and some men have jobs that involve heavy physical labor.(That's not to say that women don't work hard physically at their jobs, but it's not the sort of heavy lifting that develops large muscles.) These marks of vigor are attractive. A man looking for a girlfriend/wife will dress up and wear his hair in particular ways, especially when he's going out.Still... women continue to wear makeup even after they're married or are otherwise not looking to find a mate.
They wear makeup to work and other non-romantic occasions, and even when nobody is going to see them at all. It's because of the culture of youth. A woman's makeup is designed to make her look young. Hairless legs and armpits are a sign of girlhood. So are red lips and cheeks.
Even a woman who isn't seeking a partner develops the habit of looking younger than she is, and will feel uncomfortably old and self-conscious without it. Men are not as subject to the culture of youth. Money and power are aphrodisiacs of a different kind, and they're actually reinforced by the marks of an older man (what people call "distinguished").
That man has to maintain a certain virility, but the marks aren't as easily faked as the youthful blush of a cheek. Men often do, however, go to some lengths to maintain their hair and hair color, and are every bit as sensitive about it as a woman wearing makeup. There is at least one other reason, perhaps a bit more subtle.
Makeup is a kind of mask. Going without makeup is like going naked, in an obviously literal sense. Some women won't go out without makeup for the same reason they wouldn't go out undressed, and will wear makeup even when they don't expect to be seen for the same reason they wear clothes even around the house.
You just never know when somebody is going to drop by. Another common saying is that women don't dress for men; they dress for other women. The same goes for makeup.
In many subcultures in America, wearing makeup marks you as part of the group, and failing to wear it would mark you as an outsider. It doesn't really matter why that's so; the mark is arbitrary. But as long as makeup is considered part of the costume of being an American woman, that habit will tend to reinforce itself.
The habit is picked up as a girl, and stays with many women for the rest of their lives.
Then stop shaving and stop wearing makeup if it bothers you. If it bothers you that much, why shave and why wear makeup? However, I think it has a little to do with nature and the mating process.
People, just like most of the other animals, choose their mates and a lot has to do with looks. If I don't think you look like a good mate, I'll pass and you could end up being very lonely or you might get lucky and get someone with lesser standards, meaning they like the hairy, no makeup type. By the way, this does go both ways.
Just because I want you doesn't mean you'll want me so the feelings have to be mutual. If you want to look like a sasquatch, I'm sure someone will find you attractive because they wouldn't care what you look like but I prefer the type that looks more like Barbie.
2 Ooooh, I not only keep my grooming & hygiene up for my husband, but for myself. I care very much how I look & feel. If I lived on a mountain top by myself, I'd still be showered, shampooed & shaved every day.
Maybe not so much make-up, but the rest of it would still be on my daily routine.

Seriously, please see the details. I'm not trying to be funny." "Did Superman shave his legs so his tights wouldn't itch? " "Sasquatches...I mean women...you know it's time to shave your legs when........?" "Any men know of a shoe/boot which gives relief to seriously aching feet & legs?
Can't wear white, but anything else OK." "Can anyone tell me about when it became fashionable for women to shave legs and armpits? " "What would it be like if women stopped shaving their legs? Do you think men could get use to it?
Could the ladies?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
