Why do my cats attack me when I receive phone calls (or listen to music) on my cell?

Animals have a different audible range than us, hence dog whistles. Tray a lower slightly base range in the ringer tones, or a classical tune, instead of a back beat tinny sound.

This could be a case of possessive behaviour & is more seen in male cats who wish to dominate their owners.

They are most likely jealous and want your full attention. Get them something of their own that they can play on. Think about a cat tree or furniture.
