You should go visit your piercer, they shouldn't be so painful after a year. If I were you I would follow the piercer's advice over Claire's, and not turn them. Claire's isn't very professional.

Your piercing will just get irritated if you turn it. It won't get stuck, don't worry! If you notice it's starting to get embedded, see your piercer.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
