Why do people hide behind fake names on the internet and hide their Q&A's?

The vast majority of us use a fake name (my real name is Variable 43, for example). It's just common sense. If you remain on this site long enough and participate with enough sincerity, you begin to share some of your life experiences, which amount to clues as to who you really are.

In combination with your name, it's possible to leave enough information behind so that someone maliciously clever can put together not only who you are, but where you are too. There are just enough weirded-out, righteous nut-jobs on this site, that that wouldn't be a good thing to have happen to you.

Because you're afraid, I guess. What's the number one question in this section? "How do I delete a question?"

Why? What do you think is going to happen? It's so unlikely that someone you know is on here, AND that they are going to see your question, AND that they are going to know that it's you, AND that they are going to care.

If there is really something that you would find embarrassing, you can post anonymously. Erik is my real name.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
