Evidence shows he did in fact move priests around, cover things up, pay people off, it shows he was directly involved.
Because he did nothing to make sure that children were safe. Even if he personally didn't move the priests around you cannot convince me that he didn't know that this was happening. If he knew what was going on and did nothing to help the children and did nothing to make sure the molesters were punished then he is just as bad as the molesters.
This isn't about what is in his job description this is about someone claiming to be a moral person and then allowing the abuse of innocent children to continue. I don't know about you but it does not need to be written in my job description for me to help people who need to be helped!
The pope's job description is a little vague.
It was his job before he became the Pope. And yes the Catholic church simply removed priests from a bad situation and put them elsewhere - they did NOTHING to stop the perverse preying on innocent children.
Because people are idiots. Anyone who is a Catholic knows that the local Bishop is in charge of their diocese. The Pope is the head of the entire Church however the diocese are each under the jurisdiction of a Bishop other than the Pope.
I'm sure people believe that only the Pope can excommunicate someone from the Church, but the thing is any Bishop of the Catholic Church can excommunicate someone from the Catholic Church. When Pope Bl. John Paul II was the head of the Church the Bishops who were the head of these diocese were relocating Priests that were suspected of sex abuses.
Pope Bl. John Paul II wasn't even aware of it till many years latter when the scandals came out. As a result he issued a Papal decree that Priests suspected of sex abuses should be removed from their pastoral duties. In fact many excommunications resulted because of these scandals.
The Church is a large Body made up of many different churches. The Pope does not manage the entire Church by himself that is why there are other Bishops to assist him. He even has his own Administration Staff to help him run the Vatican they are called Cardinals.
The Pope is just one man he is not managing the entire Church alone.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
