Obviously depends on the man. But SHOULD he be? In most circumstances, I would say "no".

There's too much risk involved, too much time passed with opportunities to pair up with people who potentially offer better relationships. Think about it this way: You're approaching this as a "one true love" issue and should he be willing to wait until his "one true love" is ready. Thing is, nobody gets inarguable evidence that somebody is their one true love (if you even believe in the concept), so waiting is a risk and the longer you wait, the more you risk.

A risk? He could die, he could become sick ... life happens. If these things happen, he is denied his evolutionary imperative (to reproduce).

Maybe intellectually no big deal, but your behaviour is hugely determined by evolutionary instincts. If you don't reproduce, your genes don't make it to the next generation so that they can try their hand at reproducing. If you DO reproduce, then your genes do make it to the next generation.

Clearly instincts that encourage reproduction will continually be re-enforced generation to generation, and behaviour that discourages reproduction will NOT. Let's put it in terms that might be more appealing to women: If you *REALLY* wanted to have children but also wanted to have an established career, how long would you be willing to wait until you had your first child? Do you think your answer would be the same in your mid 30s?

Would a woman under those circumstances put up with a guy being iffy about marriage, perhaps NOT having sex until they were married, etc? Biology is an extremely strong impulse for a reason, and waiving your hands and saying it shouldn't be that way might be good exercise, but is otherwise pointless.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
