Yes, you are missing something. Your name is Sara. There is Sara Lee foods.
You must be Sara Lee of Sara Lee foods. I know what I said seems like nonsense, but it's similar to the argument that people make about the Confederate flag. The flag was the flag of slave owners.
It was also the flag of hundreds of thousands NON-slave owners that believed in state rights. Because some were slave owners, you deny the others the right to be proud of their battle for state rights? Nonsense.
That's bigotry. Condemn everyone because of a few. Same with the Swastika.
The symbol existed in the Middle East LONG before Nazis appropriated it. Yet because of what the Nazi's did to a legitimate symbol of life, sun, power, strength, and good luck. The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used for over 3,000 years.
(That even predates the ancient Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE. So, now NO ONE can use it because YOU associate it with Nazi Germany? Now I'm not stupid, I know that the swastika's used to represent Neo-Nazi groups in the USA.
But would you condemn an Indian or Greek using the symbol because of the meaning above? Would you condemn state's rights activists in the South from using it to represent their goals when they have no interest or support for slavery and never have? Symbols are symbols.
When we start banning symbols because someone ELSE has a meaning different from what we intend, we open our society to some very unethical instances of censorship. Let's not go there, shall we?
Okay, wow. The flag represents standing for something, against something thats wrong. The flag is about heritage, and is in no way ignorant.
The confederation represents the right to vote to enslave people, not to enslave people....just the right. The confederate flag to many people is southern pride and way of life....you can it stereotype us into racism.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
