Why do people want to ban gay marriage say they are conservative and want less government involvement in our?

When ever someone ask this type of thought provoking question you usually get the typical "States Rights!" b/s and that is what you are getting here for the most part (gotta love those answers which end in exclamation points huh?). I think these types of questions really highlight the surface level thinking which most (not all) Republicans who hold "conservative' values have on the issue of Gay Marriage. In the end their "we hate big Government' while encouraging governments at all level, Federal and State, to prevent Gay Marriage simply comes of as hypocritical.

Don't make any mistake if these "State's Rights! Republicans had the opportunity ,Gay Marriage would not be allowed in any state and if it were a Federal act which put that law into place they would be completely content with the decision even if it does go against what they claim is one of the most important aspects of the American Constitution - so in the end yes they are hypocrites who simply stand on the side of the fence which is most convenient at the time.. But don't worry, for these Republicans/Conservatives it doesn't matter because they also have the memory of a goldfish so they never do figure out that they come off as walking contradictions.

Marriage is between a man and a woman. Simple fact. If you start allowing different permutations where does it stop?

Three people, four, how about five? Do you continue to change the definition to allow household pets? Accept the fact that marriage is what it is.

Why do people like you feel the need to take what for thousands of years has been a clearly defined religious institution and change it?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
