Why do school kids have taxes deducted from their summer jobs and how do we get it back?

Taxes are withheld because they may have a tax liability. File an income tax return for your kids to determine if they are due a refund.

FICA (Social Secuirty and Medicare) are withheld from all employee wages and are a set percentage. This money is not returned unless your consider future government benefits returned money.

Because the government doesn't play favorites if you make over $300 in a year and you get it back just like most other working Americans by filing a tax return although I think if you claim them as dependents they might be out of luck. I'm not a tax accountant though so you might want to check with a tax preparer first.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
