I have never seen a building without the 13th floor, or I have never seen a building where the 13th floor is not designated as 13th. But if there are buildings without the 13th floor, it's due to the old superstition that the number 13 is bad luck, Devil's dozen.
In Malaysia, it is common to see buildings without the 13th floor. For example, my apartment block lists the 13th floor as 12A and the 4th floor parking is listed as 3A. I think it is because that Chinese generally believe that the number 4 means "death" and that is why they do not have the 13th floor as 1+3 = 4.In some housing estates, where it is done by Chinese housing developers, the house number 13 is sometimes known as 11A.
This belief is strong among the Malaysian Chinese and you would definitely not find a Chinese living on the 13th floor or 4th floor or house number 13 or 4 or any other number which adds to 4.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
