Why do some cats abandon their kittens?

There is a tendency for the mother cat to reject some of her kittens in her litter. This is likely to happen with a feral cat than a domesticated one but it is possible to happen with either. A mother might reject a kitten because of a genetic disorder or deformity that makes the kitten not likely to survive as an adult.

If the mother has no experience and she is stressed because of lack of food or frightening experiences can cause her to abandon one or all of the kittens. If the cat is feral, handling the kittens can cause the mother to abandon them especially if they are afraid of people. In some rare circumstances, a cat might kill one or more of her kittens.

This happens usually in the winter for it is a difficult time for a mother to raise her kittens. Other times a mother might kill a kitten, rather than abandon it because of abnormalities that make it harder for the kitten to live longer and survive.

There are some reasons, but we can help the kittens to survive. It's a possibility she will run away to save her own life; leaving the kitten behind. Mother cats are elusive, sometimes gone scavenge ring.

It is because if the mother cat instinctively feel that the environment is not suitable for her and her kitten.

Kitten leaving is more common in inexperienced (new mother) or highly stressed mothers. There may have some genetic problems (leading to hormonal or behavioral problems).

This behavior is most often due to their highly competitive natures and scarcity of food. It may seems linked to the number of competing males present. If the kittens are dirty and ill, we should take abandoned kittens to a veterinarian so that their general health can improve and the kitten survives.

Cats will very often feed kittens other than their own. Abandoned kittens will need to be cleaned and rid of fleas soon after they are found. Prevention: 1. Make available plenty of food.

2. Provide adequate shelter. 3.

Offer proper sympathy and affection to the mother cat. 4. Cover the area so that the mother cat can not escape.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
