To help hide their real hair The religious reason is that married women of some orthodox or ultra-orthodox traditions are supposed to cover their hair. So many will use wigs or scarves to do this. To this end some shave their hair so that it can't be seen and because it is a lot easier to cover a shaved head or really short hair than it is to cover a full head of hair under a wig.

Some ultra-orthodox believe that wearing a wig looks too much like natural hair and will therefore wear a head scarf with no wig. I also looked around a little on the net to see if I could get any confirmation for those 'stories' you hear that Jewish women shaving their heads has to do with making themselves less attractive to their husbands. I can't find anyone who co-oberates that.

Covered not shaven According to the strict (orthodox) Jewish law, a married woman must dress modestly as to not attract other men. To that end, they wear what's called a 'Sheitel' (?) in Yiddish. This is the word for wig.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
