Why do some people consider spending money on luxurious 12 cylinder vehicles (Rolls Royce, Maybach, etc.) to be in bad taste?

Jealousy, what they cannot have noone should. According to this site we seem to already have established the car was given to him for some publicity. If this is the norm in his social circle then there is nothing wrong.

Even if Diddy bought this car for his son it could have been for an accomplishment in his son's life or maybe knowing his son he feels the boy has attained that level of responsibility. I don't know but if anyone knows the young man personally please advise us. Again, the money that Diddy has the value of this car is meaningless and once again the values of your socioeconomic group come into play.

The only time I find it in bad taste is when it is purchased for a 16 year old that has not show himself to be responsible as a driver. If someone has the money and buys the beautiful car for themselves then it is not in bad taste, but my only concern with P Ditty was he bought it for a first time driver and that to me personally seems a bit over the top. The cars are awesome and I would love to own one.

I may be able to one day, but I wouldn't buy one for a kid.

Because the economy is disaterous...how about throwing down some cash to support the cause...not throw down cash to support global warming...just like...why would you by that luxurious 12 cylinder wehicle for a 16 year old like most richy stuck ups...because they can...money is power...but its not control...when the world is wiped out in 2012 due to catastrophic natural disasters...all those richy riches are gonna wish they didn't just buy that car floating down the newly made stream, there gonna wish they put there money towards something that could have saved our lives.

:) For the President of Haiti to buy a Rolls Royce the day after the earthquake (if that were to happen)? Bad taste. Sometimes timing and context are a factor more than anything.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
