I had a friend who did that, only he'd say 'durr', and it became an annoying trend that I had finally got on him about it. It almost nearly ruined the friendship, but once I mentioned it to him, he totally stopped doing it. We're still friends even today as this happened at least more than 10 years ago.
Sometimes people don't realize the habits they have until someone says it. And yes, 'duh' does feel uncomfortable, as if the person is pointing out you're too stupid to not see the obvious. It is rude.
Those who use the word "Duh," are not trying to be insensitive, they ARE being insensitive, if they aren't joking. People "evens" use it? "EVENS?!"
You're opening yourself up to a lot of "Duhs!" with that one.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
