Why do they load aircraft from the front to the rear? It makes more sense to let the passengers in the rear load first?

It makes more sense to let the passengers in the rear load first- most people block the aisle to stow their luggage in the overhead compartments- Asked by Rayddd 53 months ago Similar questions: load aircraft front rear makes sense passengers first Games & Leisure > Travel.

Purely to satisfy the egos of the First Class/Business Class passengers and justify the higher price they pay for their tickets. That's the only reason - first class and business class are at the front of the plane, so to reward those who paid the premium, they get to go on first. If you travel frequently, one thing you will see is that when they are really pressed for time, the gate agents will make an announcement that they are going to load the back of the plane first, and they will apologize profusely to the first class folks and ask them to bear with them for this inconvenience so the plane can leave on time.

I've flown first class when I've been bumped - it's nice, but I don't think I could ever justify paying that much more for a ticket (or using the extra miles to upgrade).

Not the case on planes I've flown I've never seen this before. Granted, I only fly 2-3 times per year, but on the airlines I fly (mostly Continental), they always start loading from the back. The only exception is, if the plane has a 1st class section they will load them first as a courtesy because they paid extra for it.

But all the coach seats on the planes I've been on have always boarded from the back to the front. When I book a flight, I always to and select my seats as close to the front of the plane as possible. So I am always one of the last people to get on.

However, when I reach my destination, I am one of the first to get off. To me, almost nothing is more frustrating than arriving at your destination and having to wait at the back of a stuffy plane while everyone gathers their stuff.

In my experience they do. On Most Airlines the passengers are boarded from the rear of the plane forward, with the highest number rows going first, except for 1st Class and those with small children which always board first. They often board several rows at a time, for instance rows 30 thru 36, followed by rows 20 thru 29, etc.So if you are in row 29 and some one who is sitting in row 20 for instance boards before you it would seem as if they were rows closer to the front first.

All airlines are different I heartily agree with you, and have been annoyed at the same thing on many trips. However, this past weekend I flew from San Jose, CA to Albany, NY, with a stop in Chicago. On both flights, I had United's "economy plus" seating, which means the first 4 or 5 rows of the non-firstclass section.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I had the last seating group on the plane. That they were boarding me *after* everyone else. For whatever reason, United got it right, where other airlines I've flown recently (USAir and Delta, to be specific) don't.

And then there's Southwest, which is always interesting since there is no assigned seating at all. First come, first serve. I was actually thinking about this as I was boarding.

Ideally what they should do of course, is have people go on to the plane not only by row section, but also by window/middle/isle. That is, people with window seats in the back should board first. Then middle seats in the back.

Then isle seats in the back. Then window seats in the middle, middle in the middle, isle in the middle. Then finally window->middle->isle in the front.

But I have a feeling that would get a little too complicated when it came to things like people travelling together, plus it would be a pain for the gate agent to have to call out 9 or more separate seating groups... In related opinion, I'm always amused/annoyed at the people who are so anxious to board they crowd around the gate so they can be right in line the *instant* their grouping is called. Why? You're still not taking off until everyone's on board.

You're just spending more time in the cramped and uncomfortable airline seats rather than the (relatively) comfortable airport. I don't get people sometimes.... Sources: recent airline experience.

First Class They usually try to get the first and business class passengers on first. People are paying a lot of cash for those tickets and the airline does no want them to wait to board and reconsider ticket buyin goptions. Usually after that, they load from the back.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
